About

April 15th, 2010

Hi, I am Mr. Cyril P. Pauya, a computer programmer by profession, a husband by status, and a father by heart.

This blog is about me, my family, my profession, my passion.

Feel free to give your comment, or use trackbacks and pingbacks, or use my contact page to personally reach me.  I reserve the right to edit or remove comments that are not helpful in its post.

I also put this site up for the purpose of earning online so I hope you don’t mind the advertisements displayed all over.

Here are some bits of what MrPau.com is:

  • a site on how to be a computer power user
  • a site for software utilities
  • a site that provides Software-as-a-Service (myListBoard.com)
  • a site for programming tips

About Me:

I am a proud Filipino and I am not ashamed of my color, culture, and cute face. ;-)

As for my location, I temporarily live at Davao City, Philippines and my permanent residence is at Midsayap, Cotabato, Philippines.

Here are some facts about me:

  • I have been in the IT industry since 1998
  • I have worked as a Programmer, Freelancer, Systems Analyst, QA Specialist, Teacher, IT Center Head, and IT Consultant in my over 10 years of industry experience
  • I now work mostly using open-source technologies like Django, PostgreSQL, Ubuntu  I work mostly using Microsoft technologies: Visual Basic, VB.Net, C#, ASP, ASP.Net, Access, SQL Server
  • My operating system is Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope because it is FREE and very customizable Microsoft Windows XP Professional with SP2 for two reasons: easy dual-monitor setup and games ;-)
  • I use mostly open-source or freeware software and utilities (open office, gimp, etc)
  • My web browser is Google Chrome Mozilla Firefox Opera because it is free and its out-of-the-box features
  • I learned the Dvorak keyboard layout in less than a month sometime in 2004 and have been using it ever since
  • I don’t know my wpm but I can type fast enough to beat you at any typing job that uses English ;-)
  • Due to this fact, I value the Python programming language because it inclines to the English language (though I have no real-world project based on it yet)
  • Due to this fact also that’s why I love the Django web framework because it is developed in Python - my first public web application myListBoard.com is developed with this
  • I would love to work with open-source software and get paid for it ;-)
  • I cannot design well but I can code like hell
  • I have my own favorite keyboard and mouse
  • I cannot code without dual monitors
  • And I cannot code with a kid shouting in the room ;-)
